Barrett O'Gorman
Barrett P. O’Gorman was raised in Goleta. He earned a B.A. in Economics from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1986 and a J.D. from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles in 1989. During law school Barrett was a judicial extern to the Honorable Terry J. Hatter in the United States District Court for the Central District of California.
After law school, Barrett worked in the Los Angeles law firms of Grace & Neumeyer and Carrick & Dale, where his practice emphasized civil litigation. In 1992, Barrett returned to Goleta to practice with his father, C. Brian O’Gorman. C. Brian O’ Gorman retired from practice in 1998. From 1998 until 2003 Barrett continued his practice emphasizing estate planning, trust administration, probate, real estate and business law. In 2003, his wife Jill O’Gorman left her partnership with the law firm of Griffith & Thornburgh, LLP to join him. Together they formed O’Gorman & O’Gorman, LLP.
Barrett is a member of the State Bar of California and the Santa Barbara County Bar Association. Barrett is admitted to practice before the United States District Court, Central District of California. He has served as a Judge Pro Tem in the Santa Barbara Small Claims Court and has been a court-appointed attorney for conservatees in conservatorship proceedings. Barrett was a member of the Santa Barbara Estate Planning Council from 2010-2019.
Barrett served on the Board of Directors of the Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara from 1995-2019, including as Chair of the Board from 2015-2017. Barrett also sat on the Board of Directors of the Foundation for Girsh Park and was a member of the Santa Barbara Sunrise Rotary Club. Barrett has coached AYSO soccer, basketball at the Goleta Boys & Girls Club, and baseball at Goleta Valley South Little League.
Barrett enjoys playing guitar and tennis and performing with his band.

Jill O'Gorman
Jill M. O’Gorman earned a B.A. in Communication Studies from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1989 and a J.D. from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles in 1992. Jill graduated with a class rank of number 3 out of 321 students from Loyola Law School, where she was a member and editor of the Loyola Law Review. During law school, Jill was a judicial extern to the Honorable Stephen J. O’ Neil of the Los Angeles Superior Court.
In 1993, Jill joined the Santa Barbara law firm of Griffith & Thornburgh, LLP where she became a partner in 1999 (the first female partner in the firm’s history). While at Griffith & Thornburgh, LLP, Jill participated in trials, mediations and arbitrations. Her litigation experience includes will/trust contests and breaches of fiduciary duties by trustees, giving her an invaluable insight as to what can go wrong when an estate plan is not properly drafted and/or a trust is improperly administered.
In 2003, Jill left Griffith & Thornburgh, LLP to join her husband Barrett in his practice. Together they formed O’Gorman & O’ Gorman, LLP.
Jill is a member of the State Bar of California, the Santa Barbara County Bar Association, the Trusts & Estates section of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, and the Santa Barbara Women Lawyers. In addition, she has participated as a member of the Santa Barbara Inns of Court.
Jill is admitted to practice before the United States District Court, Central District and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

In 2011, Jill was awarded an Honorary Service Award by the Mountain View School PTA. This is an award that is given to people for outstanding service to children and youths. Also in 2011, Jill was recognized for her volunteer service by the Goleta Union School District Board of Trustees.
Jill is proud to have co-coached the 5th and 6th grade Mountain View School math teams to 1st place victories in the 2008 and 2009 South Coast Mathematics Superbowl competitions.
In her free time, Jill enjoys horseback riding and yoga.
Barrett and Jill met at UCLA in 1984, and married in 1992. They have two sons. Barrett and Jill’s greatest pleasures are traveling and spending time with their sons.
